Robert Wood Found ALIVE!

Volunteers found eight year-old Robert Wood, Jr. this afternoon near the rock quarry next to North Anna Battlefield Park, where some 119 hours earlier, he went missing from his family.

Media reports say he was med-flighted to VCU Medical Center for treatment and was given water and a blanket on the scene before being airlifted. We are awaiting word on Wood's condition.

Several hundred volunteers braved much cooler weather and occasional rain on this Friday to continue the search. Amazingly, reports say Wood ran from some volunteers when he was first found, a testament to his physical condition after five full days in the wild alone.

NOTE: A celebration prayer vigil event is scheduled at 7:30pm tonight at the Doswell Community Center, which is the old Doswell Elementary School.

Some 1,500 volunteers are being deployed from the Meadow Event Park command center today to search some 3.5 miles from where 8 year-old Robert Wood, Jr. disappeared Sunday at North Anna Battlefield Park off Verdon Road in Northern Hanover.

Searches continued overnight with, according to HCSO, some "challenges". Cooler weather has arrived to meet returning and new volunteers, with intermittent showers expected today and heavier rain arriving late tonight. Today is a critical day in this search.

OVER CENTRAL VIRGINIA MAINLY ACROSS THE I95 CORRIDOR. THESE STORMS
WERE MOVING NORTH NORTHEAST AT 25 TO 30 MPH AND WILL CONTINUE TO
FALL ACROSS AREAS THAT HAVE RECEIVED LOCALLY HEAVY RAINFALL FROM
PREVIOUS THUNDERSTORMS. RAINFALL AMOUNTS MAY EXCEED TWO INCHES IN
ANY ONE AREA OVER THE NEXT FEW HOURS.

* RUNOFF FROM THIS HEAVY RAINFALL WILL CAUSE MINOR FLOODING TO
