A snowstorm for the record books??

Click HERE for the new update from the National Weather Service.

December snowstorms are hard to come by in the Ashland/Richmond area. Recent events include:

December 23/24, 1998: A major ice/snow storm socks the region just in time for Christmas, but many spend the holiday without power.

December, 1989: A series of smaller winter weather events plus unseasonably cold temperatures made it certainly feel like Christmas for once in our area.

December 11, 1982: On a day where Virginians were talking college basketball, as Ralph Sampson prepared to take on Patrick Ewing in a big matchup between Georgetown and Virginia, they would soon discover they would watch the game indoors while a major storm dumped close to 10 inches outdoors.

Will we add December 18/19, 2009 to this list? We'll know in about 48 hours. :)
