Bin Laden Cut Down on Sunday In Pakistan

Earlier reports had the U.S. raid and firefight which led to Osama Bin Laden's death and capture taking place as much as a week ago. President Obama's statement to the nation Sunday night confirmed the operation took place on Sunday in Abbottabad, Pakistan, at a fortress built some six years ago, apparently to house and protect Bin Laden and his surrogates. Various reports indicate the compound was built with 12 to 18 inch thick walls, surrounded by seven-foot high fences topped by barbed wire.

As time goes on, we will learn more about how the tip sent to the President last August led to the discovery of Bin Laden's location, and, eventually, led to the plans and execution of attack by special forces.

The latest on Bin Laden's death later this morning, 7 to 9am with Hanover In The Morning with Bill and Skip on WHAN 1430!
