County Schools In Spring Playoffs

Hanover Hawks baseball had advanced to the Central Region playoffs in each of its first six years of existence. The streak will not reach seven. Lee-Davis eliminated the Hawks yesterday in the Capital District Tournament Semifinals with an 8-1 victory. Lee-Davis, now 14-7 on the season, will battle #1 seed Atlee in the championship game tonight at 7pm. The game will be played at Hanover High School.

Meanwhile, in girls softball, Lee-Davis and Hanover advanced to tonight's Capital District championship with victories on Tuesday. Lee-Davis shut out Varina 12-0, while Hanover knocked off #2 seeded Atlee 6-5. Tonight's final will also be played at Hanover High.

In the Colonial District, Patrick Henry's girls softball team shut out Hermitage 1-0 in the semifinals Tuesday. The top-seeded Patriots will face third-seeded J.R. Tucker in tonight's 7pm final, to take place at Deep Run.

In soccer, Patrick Henry's boys season came to an end with a 3-1 loss to Mills Godwin in the Colonial District Tournament semifinals on Tuesday. In the Capital District, the Tournament championship is an all-county affair, as Lee-Davis, who upended #1 Hanover 3-2 in 3 overtimes in the semis, will face #2 Atlee, who beat Henrico 2-0 to reach the final. Tonight's 7:30 final is at Hanover High.

Atlee looks to sweep both boys and girls soccer tournament titles, with the Lady Raiders, seeded #1, battling #2 Hanover in the Capital District girls final at Hanover tonight at 5:30.
